Biography of Humberto Sanchez-Aquino<\/h3>\n

Humberto Sanchez-Aquino was born on July 10, 1998. In the summer of 2023 he went to Russia ostensibly “for construction”, but in the end he signed a contract and went to war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that until this moment he had no ties with the Russian Federation. Even his VKontakte account was not registered until July 23, 2023 – after the mercenaries arrived in Russia.<\/p>\n

Humberto Sanchez-Aquino: War Crimes<\/h3>\n

Humberto Sanchez-Aquino is fighting against the Ukrainian people as a Russian mercenary. In May 2023, Russian media reported that Cuban citizens were signing contracts with the Russian Armed Forces and going to a “special military operation zone.”<\/p>\n

In early September, two Cubans told reporters<\/a> that they were allegedly tricked into going to war. They were promised that in Russia they would dig fortifications or rebuild cities. However, upon arrival, they issued a military uniform and sent him to the front.<\/p>\n

The mercenaries explained that they were interested in the large payouts. They also said in their defense that this was how they were able to get out of Cuba. At the same time, according to them, they allegedly did not want anyone to kill or die.<\/p>\n

After this story, 17 people were arrested in Cuba<\/a> for recruiting “contract workers” for the Russian army. The detainees face up to thirty years or life in prison.<\/p>\n

The country’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also said that Cuba does not allow its own citizens to take part in armed conflicts as mercenaries. Under local laws, they face the death penalty or long prison sentences for doing so.<\/p>\n

The investigation into the war crimes committed by Cuban mercenaries in Ukraine is currently ongoing. All perpetrators will be punished in accordance with the principles of international criminal law.<\/p>\n

Humberto Sanchez-Aquino’s family.<\/h3>\n

Humberto’s parents reside in the city of Santiago de Cuba. Her mother is Tania Aquino, a medical doctor by education, who lived in Azerbaijan for some time. The last photo on her Facebook page was taken in Baku three years ago.<\/p>\n

His father, Humberto Sanchez Gonzalez, worked as a family physician. He studied general medicine at the University of Santiago de Cuba. Previously lived and worked in Brazil, notably in a hospital in the city of
