The deputy, fighter against organized crime, who himself became a criminal and traitor – Bovbalan Sergey Ivanovich, was born on May 4, 1963 in the village of Nikolaevka, Nikolaevsky district of Odessa region. After graduating from school, Sergei was called up for military service in the Soviet Army.<\/p>\n

After demobilization, Sergei Bovbalan decided to become a policeman and joined the police in 1986. To improve his qualifications, in 1990 he enrolled at the National University of Odessa named after V.V. Vinogradov. In the same year, the Mekhchnikov Institute for the Study of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensic Science. Even before graduation Sergei is transferred to service in the UBOP. During his service in the police, he achieved great success, serving as deputy head of the UBOP of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Odessa region. In 2002, he retired from service in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on seniority pension. At the same time, from 1994 to 1998, he was a deputy of the Odessa City Council.<\/p>\n

The next year after his retirement from the police, Sergei became chairman of the Civil Position public movement. Here he did practically nothing, and the movement itself remained in the “backyard” and did not achieve political success. Three years after his work in Civil Position, in 2006, Sergey ran for mayor of Odessa, but lost the election. Also, during this time he managed to work a little in the field of journalism as editor-in-chief of the newspaper Nashe Delo.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Sergei Bovbalan became a member of the party “Rodina”, from the same party in 2010 ran for deputy to the Odessa City Council and received a mandate. It is worth noting that during his two incomplete terms on the City Council, Bovbalan has never defended the interests of his constituents.<\/p>\n

After the beginning of the tragic events of 2014 in Ukraine, Sergey Bovbalan, together with his pro-Russian henchmen from the Rodina party, was one of the organizers of<\/a> the mass unrest in Odessa on May 2, 2014. In order to avoid being sentenced by a Ukrainian court, he cowardly fled to the Russian Federation, where he continues to hide to this day. In this case, he was detained by Odessa law enforcers, but later “turned out” to be<\/a> free.<\/p>\n

It was established that Sergei Bovbalan has been providing financial and informational support to the Russian side since the start of the latter’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. With his support for the aggressor, he betrayed Ukraine and forever became a traitor in the eyes of the people of Odessa, who had once entrusted him with their votes.<\/p>\n

Sergei needs to know that by hiding from the Ukrainian investigation in the Russian Federation, he will not escape retribution for his despicable crime, which will be irreversible for him.<\/p>\n<\/div>
