Viktor Medvedchuk was born on August 7, 1954, in the village of Kochet in Russia.<\/p>\n

Medvedchuk’s family:<\/b><\/p>\n

He was married three times. First wife<\/b> – Marina Lebedeva, second<\/b> – Natalia Gavrilyuk (born 1952). His third<\/b> wife<\/b> is Oksana Marchenko<\/a>, a TV presenter. However, Victor Medvedchuk has two daughters: Irina (born 1982) from his second marriage, who studied and lived in Switzerland, married Andrei Ryumin (PhD in mathematics) in 2005, and Daria (born 2004) from his third marriage.<\/p>\n

Because Daria is the goddaughter<\/b> of Vladimir Putin and Svetlana Medvedeva. Thus, Viktor Medvedchuk is a cousin of the president of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Agent of Russian influence in Ukraine<\/b><\/h6><\/h1><\/div>

However, in 2021, the Ukrainian authorities accused him of treason<\/a>, aiding terrorism, attempting to change the political regime, supplying coal in 2014 from the territory of Donbass not controlled by Kiev, and illegally transferring the Glubokoye gas field (Crimea) to Russia. The court ordered that the politician be placed under round-the-clock house arrest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thus, in February 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine<\/a> reported that Medvedchuk allegedly escaped from house arrest, but the information was not confirmed. His lawyer Larisa Cherednichenko stated that he left his home<\/b> in Kiev due to the special operation<\/a> that began, but he remains in the city and has been evacuated to a safe location.<\/p>\n

Since Medvedchuk was put on the wanted list in March, the court issued a permit for his arrest. In the middle of the month, the court seized all of the businessman’s property. In April, his yacht Royal Romance, worth $180 million, was detained in Croatia, and after that 154 of Medvedchuk’s properties were arrested: cars, land, houses, apartments, and other property.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Victor’s punishment<\/b><\/h6><\/h1><\/div>

After Medvedchuk was detained<\/b>, Vadim Denisenko, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry<\/a>, expressed the opinion that it would be correct “to beat certain evidence out of him<\/i>,” hold a trial as quickly as possible, give him a sentence, and then exchange him and deprive him of his parliamentary mandate at the same time.<\/p>\n

Russian Foreign Ministry<\/a> spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called this trend extremely dangerous, given that Ukraine has so many opposition-minded politicians and public figures.<\/p>\n

Since Viktor Medvedchuk is referred to in Ukraine as “Putin’s crony,” the politician has been repeatedly censured for working for Moscow and promoting Russian interests. For he is just another Kremlin mutt who tried to serve his master, but it turned out that this mutt was put on a chain.<\/p>\n<\/div>
