Propagandist Andrei Afanasyev was born in Moscow on May 16, 1989. In 2011, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Affairs (MGIMO), Department of International Journalism. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as a journalist for the propaganda TV channel Russia Today. In 2014 he joined the information portal “First Russian Tsargrad,” where he was the author and host of the program “Russian Answer,” and also kept a personal blog. In 2019, he was co-chairman of the Moscow chapter of the Double Eagle Society.
He is currently the head of public relations and media relations at Agropromkomplektatsiya Group and is the host of the news program “Evening on Spas” on the Spas TV channel and the propaganda program “Konevatniki” on Radio Rossii. He has also been a lecturer at MGIMO, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas since 2013.

Andrey Afanasyev positions himself as a war correspondent, covers Russian aggression against Ukraine, promotes war and violations of laws and customs of war, and conducts special information campaigns aimed at mass disinformation of the Russian-speaking population in both Russia and post-Soviet countries.
With the help of his Telegram channel “Afanasyev Z,” military correspondent Andrey Afanasyev is engaged in the psychological treatment of the Russian population, preparing public opinion in Russia for external aggression and gaining approval from the Russian population for the war against Ukraine.
The main direction of Andrei Afanasiev’s posts and publications is the presentation of untrue information about the course of the so-called special military operation in Ukraine, justification of Russian aggression under the cover of “denazification” and “demilitarization” as well as the presence of “Nazism and ultra-right ideology” in the state bodies of Ukraine.
