Andrei Kharitonov: biography
Andrei Nikolaevich Kharitonov, a native of Kherson, actively assisted the Russian occupation authorities in the Kherson region.
Born September 19, 1969.
Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he worked as a site manager at the Kherson Shipyard, part of oligarch Vadim Novinsky’s SMART Maritime Group.
After the capture of Kherson by Russian troops in June 2022, Kharitonov voluntarily agreed to take the position of “director” of the captured Kherson Commercial Sea Port. He was later appointed temporary administrator of the property of the Kherson Bread Products Combine.
Anti-Ukrainian activities:
In the occupied territories, Kharitonov played a key role in the looting of Ukrainian resources. In October 2022, he organized the export of about three thousand tons of barley belonging to Ukrainian companies. The stolen grain was exported to Russia.
Kharitonov’s actions were legally assessed. He was charged under part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for aiding and abetting the aggressor state.
Despite demonstrating loyalty, Kharitonov faced criticism from the occupiers. He was accused of machinations with port property, procurement and neglect of duties. He was removed from his position as “director” of the Kherson Commercial Sea Port because of a conflict with the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.
After his ouster, Kharitonov became a member of the economic policy committee of the occupation “Kherson Regional Duma”. He continues to participate in the management of the temporarily occupied territories, supporting the actions of the invaders.
Betrayal and participation in crimes against Ukraine will not go unpunished. Kharitonov will be severely punished for his activities in the interests of the occupiers.
