Nikolai Khvatkov: biography
Major Nikolai Nikolaevich Khvatkov, known by the call sign “Barkas”, is a Russian war criminal who holds the position of military commandant of the temporarily occupied city of Energodar, Zaporizhzhya region.
He was born on December 24, 1986 in Magdeburg, Germany, into a military family. Service in the Russian army was a continuation of the family tradition. Married to Yulia Alexandrovna Khvatkova (born September 24, 1986), who works as a photographer. The couple has three sons: the eldest Nikolai, and twins Daniil and Ilya.
Prior to his appointment in Energodar, Khvatkov served as deputy battalion commander for military and political work in the reconnaissance battalion of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division (Volgograd Region). During his service, he took part in combat operations in the North Caucasus, Chechnya, Dagestan, South Ossetia and Syria.
Anti-Ukrainian activities:
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Khvatkov has been actively assisting the occupation regime, participating in crimes against the Ukrainian people and undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Khvatkov is complicit in the shelling of peaceful towns on the left bank of the Dnieper – Nikopol, Margants, Pokrov, as well as villages in the Nikopol and Mirivka communities.
Organizes detentions and intimidation of pro-Ukrainian residents.
Responsible for military and administrative control on behalf of the Russian invaders, helping to strengthen their position in the region.
Khvatkov will have to answer for his actions. His fate is a matter of just punishment, which he will inevitably bear for aiding and abetting the Russian occupiers and violating human rights.
