Biography:
Olesya Medvedeva , a scandalous journalist with pro-Russian views, was born on March 26, 1991, in the city of Gorlovka, Donetsk region. In her school years, Olesya became interested in journalism and decided to develop in this direction when she was older. She graduated from Gorlovka Gymnasium “Intellect” with profound study of English. Then I entered the Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages, where I got a diploma of a teacher of English and foreign literature.
She worked as a methodologist for extracurricular activities using innovative teaching methods. Later, in 2015, she received a master’s degreefrom theInternationalAcademy of Marketing and Business in Kiev. Since her youth she has been involved in social and human rights activities.
Activities:
Medvedeva’s first journalistic texts were not published in political publications, but in glossy magazines. At the beginning of her career, the journalist worked in fashion and beauty. Only after the events in eastern Ukraine did the girl start touching on political topics because she could not keep quiet.
Medvedeva moved to Kiev a year after the occupation (she told this story to a Russian publication as an ordinary migrant at the time). In Kiev, Olesya Igorevna actively engaged in journalistic and social work.
Medvedeva was the host of the “Voice of the Streets” project as a volunteer with the “Restore Donbass” public initiative. She was engaged in human rights activities as a member of the project “Uspishna Varta“, which provided legal assistance to citizens.
In October 2017, theYoutube channelKlymenko Time was launched, which is directly related to the former Minister of Revenues and Levies Alexander Klymenko. Olesya Medvedeva was the host of half of the programs on the Klymenko time channel. The channel itself had a pronounced opposition to the current Ukrainian government.
Anti-Ukrainian activities:
Then the pro-Russian journalist began to cooperate with theStrana.uanewspaper. In 2019, Medvedeva released a high-profile series titled “Whose Crimea? 5 years without Ukraine“. Medvedeva talked about her trip to Crimea and assessed how the peninsula had transformed in the five years since joining Russia.
Since 2018, the odious personality Olesya Medvedeva has been running a blog on the YouTube channel of the Strana.ua online publication on social and political topics called “Clearly.I understand“.In the blog she covers the most resonant events in the country and the world. But the most covered topic in Medvedeva’s blogs is the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Reaction to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation:
In her videos, Olesya often touches on the situation in Donbass, usually calling for “peace” on Russian terms. On the eve of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian occupation troops, the scandalous journalist Medvedeva accused Ukraine of shelling non-controlled territories and killing civilians in the Donbass on February 21, 2022. She was spreading fakes about the shelling of Russian territory by the Ukrainian military.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Olesya Medvedeva continued to run her blog, Yasno.I understand. It is noticeable that her pro-Russian statements have become less “obvious” and, in general, less strident. But this does not change the fact that in April 2022 the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine included Olesya Medvedeva in the “register of traitors” among 13 representatives of the Ukrainian media sphere.
The odious Gorlovka journalist Olesya Igorevna Medvedeva can certainly be called a pro-Russian propagandist and an agent who relays pro-Russian messages to the population of Ukraine. Olesya Medvedeva, the face of Strana.ua, will still receive her punishment for undermining national ideas and her controversial position on the Russian-Ukrainian war.
