He was born July 13, 1968 in the Russian city of Lipetsk.

Since 1985, he worked as a car mechanic at the Donetsk Car Repair Plant. In 1986-1988 he did military service in the Soviet Army, in the troops RKO, sergeant of the Armed Forces of the USSR, after retirement he worked as a turner at the Donetsk Car Repair Plant.

In 1995, he graduated from the History Department of Donetsk State University.

In the 1990s he worked in politics and political technologies in Ukraine. He was involved in the election of governors, mayors, and members of the Verkhovna Rada. Later he created and headed the “Center for Strategic Planning.

In 1995-1999, he was the political editor of the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda – Donbass.

Kornilov is known for fomenting separatism in eastern Ukraine and Crimea, systematically supporting the Russian occupation of Ukrainian territories not only during the war in Donbas, but also for a long period before it.

In particular, in 2013, he published a propaganda article entitled “EUROSWERI: Anatomy of a “pro-European” lawlessness.

For his active pro-Russian activities on the territory of Ukraine, Kornilov was awarded the Badge of Honor of a Compatriot of Russia, which he received personally from Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country

According to Vladimir Kornilov, Ukraine is doomed to federalism and bilingualism. “Otherwise, Ukraine simply will not be able to preserve itself within its current borders… It is necessary that already now the representatives of the Ukrainian public sit down at one table and discuss how to live”.

Also during one of the broadcasts on Russian TV, Kornilov stated that people’s deputies of Ukraine from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada called for the execution of all people who work on the territory of the “L/DNR”.

On Vladimir Solovyov’s program, he called for sanctions against Ukraine for introducing a language law.

By decree of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on January 15, 2023, was included in the sanctions list of Russian cultural figures, journalists and bloggers.
