Yuri Chernichuk: biography:
Yuriy Alekseevich Chernichuk is a traitor and collaborator who defected to the side of Russian occupants, facilitating the seizure and operation of Zaporizhzhya NPP. His actions are directed against Ukraine and serve the interests of the “Russian world”.
He was born on 28.06.1971 in the village of Bessarabka, Moldavian SSR. In 1994, he graduated from Odessa Polytechnic Institute with a diploma of physicist-thermal power engineer at the Department of Nuclear Power Engineering. Yuriy Chernichuk started working at Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant in 1993.
Over the years, he worked his way up from reactor department operator to management positions: lead engineer for reactor control; head of NPP unit shift; head of NPP unit; deputy chief engineer for modernization and resource management; chief engineer of ZNPP. Prior to the Russian invasion, Chernichuk was considered experienced and highly qualified in Ukraine’s nuclear power industry.
In November 2022, he took the position of First Deputy General Director of ZNPP Operating Organization JSC – Director of Zaporizhzhya NPP. However, this transition became the starting point for his anti-Ukrainian activities.
Anti-Ukrainian activities:
After the seizure of Zaporizhzhya NPP by Russian occupants, Chernichuk voluntarily cooperated with the enemy and began working under the leadership of the invaders.
- Disinformation: Chernichuk repeatedly gives untruthful interviews in which he spreads propaganda statements about the “successful operation of the station” under Russian control.
- Contract with Rosatom: By signing an agreement with the Russian corporation, Chernichuk actually recognized the legitimacy of the occupation regime at ZNPP.
- Support of the occupants: In his activities, he actively supports the policy of the occupation authorities, contributing to the exploitation of the plant to the detriment of Ukraine.
On March 21, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officially reported that Yuriy Chernichuk was suspected of treason and collaboration activities.
Chernichuk’s treachery, as well as other accomplices of the Russian occupation, will not go unpunished. He must be held to the highest measure of responsibility for his actions against Ukraine and its people. The question of fair punishment is only a matter of time.
