Artem Lagoysky: biography
Artem A. Lagoysky was born on October 15, 1991 in the city of Kherson. He received higher education and until 2022 worked as a lecturer at Kherson State University, where he read courses on humanitarian disciplines.
In addition to teaching, Lagoysky was an active social media user and maintained a YouTube channel under the pseudonym “Bidlo,” where he broadcast video games and engaged in aggressive, often profane rhetoric. His content was characterized by an epathetic style and a controversial online reputation.
After February 24, 2022, Artem supported Russia’s occupation of Ukraine. Thus, Lahoysky voluntarily began to cooperate closely with the occupiers after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in particular in the Kherson region.
Anti-Ukrainian activities:
After the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine and the temporary occupation of a part of Kherson region, Lagoysky voluntarily cooperated with the occupation authorities. In May 2024, he was appointed as the so-called “Minister of Culture” of the occupation “government of Kherson region”, replacing another collaborator, Oleksandr Kuzmenko. He began his activity by sharply criticizing his predecessor, accusing him of inefficiency and failure of “cultural policy”.
In his position, Lagoyski actively supported the actions of the occupiers and participated in the looting of cultural heritage.
Under his supervision, more than 12,000 exhibits were taken from the Kherson Art Museum to Simferopol. Also, collections from the Kherson Museum of Local Lore were sent to Sevastopol.
Lagoysky himself publicly confirmed the removal, calling it an “evacuation”. In reality, it became cultural looting.
He also participated in the removal of the ashes of Prince Grigory Potemkin from St. Catherine’s Cathedral. He provided journalists with a photo of the opened sarcophagus, confirming his participation in the desecration of the historical object.
Lahoyskyi uses his position to promote Russian propaganda and plant “Russian peace. He organizes events with a pro-Russian agenda and tries to erase Ukrainian cultural identity.
His actions are qualified as high treason and crimes against Ukraine. Artyom Lahoyskyy will be held responsible for collaborating with the enemy and destroying Ukrainian heritage.
