Kh-59 missiles hit civilian targets in Ukraine. We found who makes them and where.

Under the conditions of a severe “missile famine,” Russian terrorists are forced to use the entire range of available ammunition in stockpiles. The stocks of Iskanders and Kalibrs have been used up to the bare minimum, and producing them under sanctions has proven to be an almost unrealistic task. That is why the Rashists are increasingly producing inaccurate or obsolete missiles.

The most famous of them, the X-22 with a deviation of 600 meters from the target and the anti-aircraft S-300, which are now used against ground targets, have already been described in detail by experts. We noticed that the news reports again mention the X-59 tactical air missile – fortunately, more often as another target shot down by the Ukrainian air defense system.

managed to find out how the Russian Federation is trying to give a new life to an obsolete Soviet design and who is responsible for the production of this “wunderwaffle.

“The newest rocket from 40 years ago

The X-59 missile was developed back in the late 1970s. It “works” only against large immovable targets with known coordinates, the claimed deviation – 3-5 meters. For the first time in combat conditions the Kh-59 was used by the Rashists during the punitive operation against Chechnya. However, this idea was quickly abandoned, as it turned out that the guidance system only works correctly in perfect weather.

It took more than 20 years to refine and modernize the missile, which is why the propaganda calls it “the latest development. The final version is called X-59MK2, the maximum declared range is 290 kilometers, and they are launched from Su-24, Su-25, Su-30, Su-34, Su-35 and Su-57 aircraft.

As of March 2022, the “second army of the world” had about 800 X-59s in different modifications, and the Russian terrorists began to actively use it – 4-15 launches per day.

. By early January, according to
information
Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov, the Russian Federation has only about 300 tactical air missiles X29/31/35/58/59 left.

The effectiveness of the X-59 is highly questionable: most successfully land Ukrainian air defenses, and each costs about $0.5 million. At the same time, it is one of the few missiles that Russian enterprises can still produce despite the sanctions.
