The GRAU of the Russian Ministry of Defense supplies shells and missiles to Putin’s army. What do we know about his leadership.

A single structure is responsible for supplying the army of the Rashists with all kinds of weapons and ammunition. This is the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (GRAU of the Ministry of Defense of Russia) – military unit 64176. No cartridge would go to the front, no missile would reach the airfield, no shell would reach a tank or howitzer without the signature of three people. These are GRAU head Nikolai Parshin, his deputy Stepan Yaroshchuk and head of the department Damir Davydov.

Their surnames became known during the public showdown between the ringleader Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Russian Ministry of Defense headed by Sergei Shoigu. Prigozhin accused the army leadership of not supplying the Wagner PMCs with shells. As proof, documents were published, thanks to which the names of Parshin, Yaroshchuk, and Davydov surfaced. They deprived the Wagnerians of artillery for a long time, and sent whole echelons of rusty scrap metal to the front for other units.

Entire convoys of ammunition are destroyed as they approach the combat zone. At Russian arsenals, “bavovna” regularly occurs, missiles explode on takeoff, and “mobikes” without artillery support fertilize the Ukrainian chernozem by the thousands. All of this, without exaggeration, is a credit to the leadership of the Russian GRAU. In the meantime, let’s get to know him better.

parshin-nikolai4Lieutenant General Nikolai Mikhailovich Parshin

He was born December 20, 1962 in the village of Mordovskoye-Kolomasovo. In 1986, he graduated from the Tashkent Higher Tank Command School. Then in 1998 he received additional education at the Military Academy of Armored Forces. Finally, in order to get big stars on his shoulder straps, Parshin studied at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (2005).

He is a typical career military man. He started out as a platoon commander and over the years was able to rise to the position of deputy armament commander of a tank battalion. Subsequently, Parshin was transferred to staff work, and served in almost all military districts. Through intrigue and sycophancy, as is customary among the “Russian elite,” he was able to reach the top of the food chain. Since July 2012, Parshin has been the permanent head of the GRAU.

Lieutenant General Nikolai Parshin was awarded in his homeland with the orders “for services”, “honor”, and “friendship”. He received the Zhukov Prize for a series of scientific papers on radioelectronic weapons. However, the civilized world sees Parshin in a completely different guise.

He came under EU, British and New Zealand sanctions for his involvement in indiscriminate rocket attacks on Ukrainian civilian cities. Parshin also gained worldwide notoriety after a briefing in which he claimed that it was Ukrainian troops who shot down civilian flight MH17 over Donbass in the summer of 2014. His lies were subsequently refuted by prosecutors and the District Court of The Hague.

Nikolai Parshin’s family

Parshin, who is under sanctions, is not particularly careful to hide from international justice. It is easy to establish that he lives in Moscow at Marshala Rybalko Street, 2, building 2, room 147. Parshin received his Russian passport (4509 841832) on October 24, 2008.

Yaroshchuk was born in Lutsk (Ukraine) on April 23, 1964. Graduated from the Tbilisi Higher Artillery Command School in 1985. Yaroshchuk fought in Afghanistan, in 1987-1989 he commanded a mortar battery. Then he participated in the punitive operation of the Russian Federation against the Chechen people in 2000.

In 2002, he commanded the 147th self-propelled artillery regiment (in the military unit 73966, Kalininets). He was Chief of Staff of Missile Forces and Artillery of the Far Eastern Military District (Khabarovsk). Then he was transferred to a similar position in the Southern Military District (Rostov-on-Don). He received the rank of major general in 2013. Yaroshchuk has been actively participating in Russia’s war against Ukraine since 2014. Most of the shelling of Ukrainian territory is on his conscience.

Yaroshchuk’s most famous war crime was the shelling of the Vostochniy Microdistrict in the city of Mariupol on January 24, 2015. Thirty-one civilians died and 117 more were wounded. Major-General Yaroshchuk was personally in charge of this “operation”, which is confirmed by Bellingcat investigation. He has been wanted by the SBU since 2018. After the name of the war criminal was declassified by journalists, he was “sent into exile” – to manage the shelling of cities in Syria.

There he distinguished himself by his brutality against civilians and his series of indiscriminate strikes against civilian infrastructure. So it’s not surprising that after that Yaroschuk was promoted. Already in 2019, he was deputy head of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the rf Ministry of Defense. And now he performs the duties of the commander of the GRAU (in/number 64716). Awarded the orders of Kutuzov and Zhukov.

Stepan Yaroshchuk’s family

The war criminal Yaroshchuk thoroughly cleaned up the data about himself from the expanses of the Internet. But online archives cherish a few important facts from his biography. So, for example, it is known that as of 2006, Major General Yaroshchuk owned an apartment in Lutsk at 3 Ladygina Street, a quarter of 46. He received his Russian passport (number 0809 835001) only on May 21, 2009. The major general drives a 2014 Toyota Prado with license plates H773EK777.

At the moment Yaroshchuk is registered at the following address. Kalininets, 25, sq. 67. This is a military settlement near Moscow, where the elite 2nd Taman Motorized Rifle Division is stationed. Svetlana Yurievna Goncharova
 (born on January 26, 1970, passport 6014 721286 issued on November 03, 2001). Judging by her current page on Odnoklassniki, she is the wife of a high-ranking military official. This is evidenced by her photos at governor’s balls, her vacation in the elite sanatorium of the Russian Defense Ministry in the Crimean Saki and Arkhyz resort. Goncharova’s old OK page lists Khabarovsk as her place of residence, just as Yaroshchuk was serving there.


Danila Stepanovich Goncharov
 (born on August 9, 2002, passport 6017 001080, issued on September 23, 2016). On his VKontakte page, he lists Rostov-on-Don as his place of residence. Danila was active in it during the years when Major General Yaroshchuk served in this city. In 2019, he graduated from School No. 1253 (Moscow). He is currently in his third year at the Military University of the Russian Ministry of Defense (prosecutor’s and investigative faculty).

Goncharov also used to be quite active on Odnoklassniki and Instagram, but something forced him to delete personal data and information that could identify loved ones. Although he still has his mother’s real last name in his VK friends – Svitlana Yaroshchuk.

He was born on February 4, 1969. He grew up in the closed city of Penza-19 (Zarechny), where his father Rafail Yusupovich Davydov (born July 30, 1938) worked at PA Start. This enterprise produced nuclear missiles until 2002. Davydov Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps. He holds several patents for rocket engines and artillery ammunition.

As of 2009, he commanded the Central Testing Technical Bureau (Troop 63341) at the 51st Arsenal. In 2017, Davydov was promoted and currently serves as head of the department of the GRAU of the RF Ministry of Defense. He also deleted or cleaned up his social media pages (only Instagram remains), but didn’t take care of the web archives.

Remarkably, part of Damir Davydov’s family has lived in the United States for a long time. I wonder if they keep in touch with their relative, knowing that he is supplying ammunition to kill peaceful Ukrainians? And besides that he is responsible for the combat readiness of nuclear missiles, including those aimed at the United States.
