Alexander Sanchik: biography

Sanchik Alexander Semyonovich was born on October 10, 1966 in the city of Andijan, Republic of Uzbekistan. Graduated from the Tashkent Higher Tank Command School in 1989, the Tashkent Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces. M.V. Frunze in 2000 and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in 2017.

Because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Alexander Sanchik is under sanctions from the European Union, the UK, Canada and other countries.

Military career:

In 2005 he was appointed Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander of the 19th Motorized Rifle Division of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

From February 2008 to 2013 – Commander of the 136th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

In 2013-2014, he commanded the 27th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Western Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

He commanded the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2014-2015. During the same period, he was promoted to the rank of Major General by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 764 of December 13, 2014.

He was appointed Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the 14th Army Corps of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy in October 2017. He served as deputy commander of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from 2017 to 2020.

From October 7, 2020 to the present day, he has been Commander of the 35th Army of the Eastern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Alexander Sanchik: war crimes

In early 2018, as a representative of the command of a group of Russian troops in Syria, planned and directed military operations that resulted in the mass death of local civilians, which was qualified by the international community as a war crime.

Since May 2024, Oleksandr Sanchik has been the acting commander of the Eastern Military District, which fights in the Kherson direction. In the composition of the well-known group of troops “Dnipro”.
