Biography of Igor Tomshin
Igor Tomshin was born on October 1, 1977. In his youth he lived in the city of Volgograd, Volgograd region. He commanded several military units in the Russian Far East. We know from public sources that at least in 2016-2017 Tomshin commanded the 39th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade (v/h 35390) of the 68th Army Corps, located in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In December 2017, this brigade, led by Tomchin, conducted winter exercises at the training range in the village of Troitskoye.
Later Igor Tomshin was in charge of the 57th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade (v/h 46102) with the place of deployment – the city of Bikin, Khabarovsk Krai. It is also known about another unit commanded by Tomshin. This is the 59th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade (v/h 44980) from the village of Sergeevka, Primorsky Krai.
The 59th Brigade has a very bad reputation. This unit was “famous” for particularly brutal hazing, which often ended in murders of servicemen. There are several cases when conscripts of this unit were found dead. Once the body of a serviceman was even found decapitated in the vicinity of Sergeyevka. One of the perpetrators of such lawlessness can safely be called Igor Tomshin.
Igor Tomshin: war crimes
As part of the occupation troops in 2022, Igor Tomshin took part in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Involved in terrorizing civilians and other Rashist war crimes. In June 2023, Tomshin was present at Putin’s meeting with military graduates. As of 2024, heads the Kursk group, which is part of the North group of forces. In March. 2024, the governor of Kursk region by his decree Igor Tomshin was included in the operational headquarters for Kursk Region.
