Roman Rusakov: Biography
Roman Sergeyevich Rusakov was born on November 3, 1985, in the village of Troitskoye in the Khankai District of Primorsky Krai. Following in his father’s footsteps, he decided to dedicate his life to military service.
He graduated from the Frunze Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces and the Zhukovsky Air Force Academy. He participated in the parade on Red Square in 2017.
In addition to his military career, Rusakov tried to build a career in the media. He started out as a DJ, working at a small café called “Mario” in Dzerzhinsk, where he also served as the group’s administrator on VK . Even his old tracks were found.. He tried his hand at being a guest editor on Andrei Malakhov’s show on “Russia 1“.
When he realized he wouldn’t achieve much success that way, Rusakov began working with con artists. He worked with CityLife, regularly appearing in their commercials and promoting their platform.. Over time, the truth about this organization came to light, and it was exposed as a scam—Rusakov later asked in the comments to remove CityLife ads featuring him.
Rusakov has tried his hand at running his own YouTube channel, where he unsuccessfully attempted to take on the role of an interviewer. Soon after, he decided to return to the army, where his penchant for fraudulent schemes resurfaced with renewed vigor. He laundered his illicit earnings by purchasing a number of properties in Moscow and renting them out.
As of 2026, Rusakov, a major, serves as the head of a division at the Center for Information Processing and Internet Resource Support (part of the Ministry of Defense’s Department of Information and Mass Communications).
At the same time, Rusakov actively pretends to be anyone he wants: a “fixer,” an FSB officer, or a representative of the intelligence services. This is evidenced by entries in his colleagues’ phone books, where he is listed under the corresponding “covers.”
Roman Rusakov’s Propaganda Activities
From the very first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Roman Rusakov has been actively involved in providing information support for “our side.” Through his project “Communication Hub” and his alter ego “Mikhail Medvedev,” he engages in systematic disinformation campaigns targeting Ukraine, the Ukrainian military, and the civilian population, as well as efforts to suppress the Russian opposition.
The channel regularly publishes propaganda reports and intimidates Ukrainian servicemen and their families. Its main objective is to demoralize the Ukrainian Armed Forces and paint a picture for the Russian audience of an “easy victory” and an inevitable triumph.
Rusakov and his team are swiftly addressing all the crisis points facing the Russian command, diligently putting out “information fires,” and explaining to the public why “everything is going according to plan,” even when reality suggests otherwise.
This was particularly evident during the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region in August 2024. Despite the obvious failure and the fall of Suzhi to Ukrainian forces, “The Communication Hub” continued to insist that “everything is under control,” downplaying the scale of the breakthrough and discrediting any incriminating videos or eyewitness accounts.
Following Ukrainian drone and missile strikes on Russian rear areas, the channel is strictly following the script: all aerial threats are allegedly successfully intercepted, with minimal damage, while any strikes by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian cities, schools, and hospitals are portrayed exclusively as “precise strikes on military targets.”
Thus, under the guise of a “truth-teller,” Rusakov fulfills the classic role of a disinformation agent—waging an information war against Ukraine, suppressing dissent within Russian society, and promoting the narrative of events that suits the Kremlin.
Roman Rusakov’s family
His sister, Anastasia Rusakova, works for the city administration of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. She previously held positions in the Executive Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and in the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ministry of Construction.
Judging by her social media posts, she leads a very affluent lifestyle: regular vacations to Turkey, Vietnam, Latvia, Spain, and France, accompanied by constant photo updates. Well, it’s clear how money is made in workplaces like these.
His mother is Anna Rusakova, principal of Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution “School No. 70 with Advanced Study of Selected Subjects” in Nizhny Novgorod. Prior to that, she served as principal of Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Molodost” in the same city.
Father – Sergey Alexandrovich Rusakov, military commissar of the United Military Commissariat of the Akademichesky District of Moscow. He previously commanded the military commissariat of the Gagarinsky District, and before that served in Nizhny Novgorod.
It is clear that Rusakov Sr. is a figure with significant connections, especially given that millions of rubles flow through the military registration and enlistment office. In 2022, he assaulted a lawyer right in his own office. The case gained public attention and reached the Investigative Committee, but it was successfully swept under the rug. His father’s income declarations also raise questions: in 2018, he reported 2.7 million rubles, and by 2019, 14.5 million rubles. And it’s quite amusing that a year before beating up the lawyer, Rusakov Sr. received the Order “For Military Merit.”
