Vladimir Koralo: biography
Vladimir Koralo was born on July 11, 1979. In 2015, he trained at the Army Military Training and Research Center “All-Russian Army Academy of the Russian Federation” in Moscow.
Since 2019, he has served as commander of the 488th Guards Motorized Rifle Simferopol-Klintsy Red Banner Order of Suvorov Regiment (v/h 12721) of the 144th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Army of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation. The regiment is stationed in the town of Klintsy, Bryansk Region.
The unit received the Guard rank in July 2022.
Since February 2022, the 488th Msp has been engaged in combat operations against Ukraine. The unit operated near Kharkiv, in the Liman direction (Yampolovka, Svatovo-Kremenna, Makeyevka, Nevskoye), as well as on the territory of the Kursk region.
In 2022, the regiment was defeated in the Kharkiv region. After that the unit was withdrawn for restoration and re-staffing. In the future, the 488th Msp was transferred to the Liman direction and was used in attempts to advance in the area of the locality of Terny. The offensive actions did not lead to results, the regiment was defeated again and was withdrawn again for restoration.
By the end of 2023, 13 lawsuits were filed to recognize the regiment’s servicemen as dead. In 2024, numerous lawsuits to declare the regiment’s servicemen missing in action in the Liman direction were recorded. In August 2024, at least 102 servicemen of the 488th Msp were captured in the Kursk region.
In addition to commanding the regiment, he served as deputy military commissioner of the Vladimir region. On August 10, in Vladimir, he participated in the ceremonial dispatch of contractors to the zone of the so-called “svo” and the ceremony of presenting state awards to servicemen of the region.
Vladimir Koralo’s war crimes
As of February 2026, the 488th Motorized Rifle Regiment remains in the Liman direction. Numerous war crimes against civilians are recorded in this area. These include targeted attacks on critical infrastructure and civilians.
According to information that circulated on the Internet, the 488th Msp received and carried out orders to shoot all civilians over 12 and under 80 years of age.
Since 2022, the 488th Motorized Rifle Regiment under Koralo’s command has been involved in combat operations against Ukraine. The unit is involved in assault operations in the Luhansk direction.
In the fall of 2023, a corruption scheme within the regiment was uncovered within the 488 msp. Servicemen were offered monthly payments of up to 100,000 rubles for exemption from participating in assault operations.
The scheme involved junior lieutenant Mikhail Rybin, junior sergeant Andrei Skorodumov, junior sergeant Yevgeny Gumenyuk, junior sergeant Vladimir Vysnapu and private Vadim Sapuntsov. It was reported that a criminal case was opened under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
During the entire time of participation in the full-scale invasion, this unit was “distinguished” by many crimes against the Ukrainian people, but, interestingly enough, also against its own personnel. Documents from 2024 noted problems with the morale of the personnel, cases of suicides and forced viewing of propaganda materials.
Vladimir Koralo’s family
Vladimir Koralo is married to Katerina Viktorovna Koralo. Rashist has two children, Maria (b. 12.09.2013) and Nikolai (b. 24.08.2009). Daughter is studying in Kindergarten No. 13 in Kamyshlovsky urban district.
