Dmitry Mikhailov: biography
Dmitry Mikhailov was born on March 22, 1987 in the village of Shingak-Kul, Chishma District, Republic of Bashkortostan. From 2011 to 2018, he performed military service in the closed military town of Khabarovsk-43 in Khabarovsk Krai. In 2018, transferred to Naberezhnye Chelny, since 2021 settled in the village of Zaliman, Bogucharsky district, Voronezh region, in close proximity to the town of Boguchar, the location of the 252nd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment (v/h 91711).
Since February 2022, he has participated in the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. In May 2022, being in the rank of major, he was presented by the propaganda machine of the rf Ministry of Defense as a “hero” – the First Channel and the official telegram channel of the rf Ministry of Defense disseminated material that “Major Dmitry Mikhailov and his motorized rifle regiment liberated one of the settlements”. The Rashist’s call sign is “Kurgan”.
In February 2025, he personally reported to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov, during an inspection of the “West” troop grouping. A photo of the meeting was published by Russian state media under the headline “The initiative is in our hands. On February 19, 2024, Mikhailov was promoted to the military rank of major general by Russian presidential decree No. 129. In three years, the Rashist rose from major to major general and division commander – a career built on the blood of Ukrainian citizens. As of March 2026, he is commander of the 144th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army of the All-Russian Armed Forces as part of the “West” grouping.
Dmitry Mikhailov’s war crimes
Since February 24, 2022, units of the 252nd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment (v/h 91711), in which Mikhailov served as chief of staff, operated in the Kharkiv and Izium directions. The regiment was directly involved in strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure in the region. During the occupation of the Kharkiv region more than 1,000 civilians, among them children, were killed. After the liberation of Izyum in September 2022, mass graves were discovered – 447 bodies, 30 of which bear obvious signs of torture.
Between 2023 and 2025, units of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division under Mikhailov’s command operated in the Limansk direction, terrorizing civilians in Kharkiv and Donetschyna regions. The division was involved in assault operations in the areas of Stepovaya Novoselovka, Zagoruylovka, Lozovaya, Kamenka in Kharkiv region, as well as Drobyshevo, Katerinovka, Kirovsk (Donetsk region) and Serebryansky forestry. In November 2025, rf defense minister Belousov personally congratulated the division on the capture of Novoselovka.
On March 19, 2026, Mikhailov ordered a large-scale offensive in the Liman direction. Throwing more than 50 motorcycles and ATVs, armored vehicles and a significant number of infantry into the assault, the Rashist sent his soldiers to slaughter. The attack smothered – the positions of the Ukrainian defenders held firm. According to the 66th separate mechanized brigade and the General Staff of the AFU, only for a few hours destroyed 43 occupants, 6 units of armored vehicles, 10 ATVs and 5 motorcycles. Total losses of equipment amounted to over 80 units, including 3 tanks, 11 BMPs and APCs, 5 artillery systems.
Throughout his participation in the full-scale invasion, Mykhailov and the units under his command have been involved in numerous crimes against the Ukrainian people. All those involved will be identified and held accountable for their crimes.
Dmitry Mikhailov’s family
Dmitry Mikhailov is married to Mikhailova Aysyla Albertovna, a native of Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan. Together with her husband, the wife of the Rashist successively changed addresses in accordance with his military transfers: Khabarovsk-43, Naberezhnye Chelny, Klintsy, village. Zaliman, Voronezh region. Rashist has a son, Mikhailov Radmir Dmitrievich (16.02.2010).
